Roll Forming Guides & Technical Notes

Selection logic, profile geometry and production economics for cold roll forming — written from the drawings and test runs that pass through our workshop in Wuxi. Every article links to the machine family it applies to, so you can move from the question to the specification without starting over.

What we publish

Three kinds of answer

Every article here belongs to one of these three groups. If a question does not fit any of them, it belongs in a quotation — not in an article.

01

Technical guides

Profile & process questions

What a profile is, how it is developed, which thickness and material a line can handle, and where the forming limits actually sit. These are the questions buyers ask before a budget exists.

02

Selection & comparison

Choosing between options

C versus Z purlin, single versus double layer panel lines, hydraulic versus servo cutting, in-house roll forming versus buying formed sections. Each comparison states the break-even condition rather than a winner.

03

Delivery & operation

From order to running line

Tooling development, factory test runs, shipping, installation, operator training and spare parts. Written as the sequence a project actually follows, with the decisions that have to be made at each step.

Questions

About these articles

Who writes these articles?

They are written by the engineering and sales team that configures the lines, then reviewed against the drawings and test-run records of the machines we build. Nothing here is written by an outside content agency, which is why the numbers in an article can be checked against a machine page.

Can I use these figures for my own project budget?

Yes, as a starting point. Line speed, station count and tolerance figures in an article describe a typical configuration for that profile family. Your section drawing, material grade and target output decide the final numbers, and we will confirm them in a written quotation.

Do you cover profiles that are not in the product list?

Usually yes. The profile families on the product pages are the ones we build most often; a non-standard section is developed the same way from a drawing or a sample. Send the section and we will tell you whether it needs a dedicated line, a shared line with a changeover set, or cannot be roll formed at all.

How often are older articles updated?

When a standard, a material grade or our own line configuration changes. Updated articles show a revised date under the title; the original publication date is kept so you can see how old the underlying figure is.

Can I request a topic?

Yes — and it is the most common way an article starts. If a profile question keeps coming up in quotations, it usually becomes a written answer here so the next buyer does not have to ask. Send the question through the contact page.

Is there a download or PDF version?

Not yet. The articles are kept as web pages so they stay current; a printed copy would go out of date the moment a thickness range or a station count changed. If you need a document for an internal approval, ask us and we will send the relevant pages as a PDF.

Ask an engineer

Not covered by an article?

Send the profile question with your section drawing, material and thickness, and the output you need per shift. You will get an answer from the team that configures the lines — not a brochure — usually within one working day.

Or browse delivery records from the same profile families on the projects page.
