Solar Strut Channel Roll Forming Machine

Lines for the 41×41, 41×21 and 41×62 strut channel profiles used in solar mounting, cable support and seismic bracing — with slot punching and accurate lip geometry.

  • Profiles 41×41 / 41×21 / 41×62
  • Sheet thickness 1.5–2.5 mm
  • Forming stations 22
  • Line speed 0–15 m/min

Technical overview

The lip and the slot are what make a strut channel work

Strut channel is an interface product: spring nuts, pipe clamps and brackets all grip the inward lip. If the lip opening or the slot pitch drifts, the accessories stop fitting and the channel is rejected on site.

The line forms a folded C section with inward return lips from 1.5–2.5 mm steel, in 22 stations on 75 mm shafts. Lip opening is set by the last two passes and checked with a go/no-go gauge; on solar profiles the lip dimension is checked before the coil is released because spring nut engagement depends on it.

Slot punching runs in-line before the final passes, punching 9×35 mm or 11×35 mm slots at a fixed pitch and, where specified, round holes on the back face. Solar mounting buyers usually want the channel cut to fixed lengths for a project, so the cut-off is paired with a length counter. For the panels these channels support, see the solar mounting application and the purlin line used for ground-mount structures.

FAQ

Solar Strut Channel Roll Forming Machine — questions buyers ask

Answers come from real quotation discussions. If your question is not here, ask it directly and an engineer will answer.

Which channel sizes can one line produce?

A single tooling set covers one profile family. 41×41 and 41×21 need different roll sets, but they run on the same frame with a changeover of 4–6 hours. Buyers running two sizes usually order both roll sets with the line.

What steel grade suits solar strut channel?

S280GD to S350GD galvanized coil is the common choice, with Z275 coating for outdoor service. Thickness is normally 1.5–2.0 mm for structural rails and 1.0–1.2 mm for cable support.

Is the slot pitch adjustable?

Pitch is set by the punch die and the servo feed length, so it can be changed within the die range without new tooling. Slot size changes need a new die insert.

Does the line handle pre-galvanized coil?

Yes, and that is the standard setup. Rollers are chrome plated, guides are nylon and the punching station uses a stripper plate to avoid marking the zinc surface.
