Ports, transit time and electrical standard are the three things that change from country to country. The machine itself is built to your section drawing wherever it ships.
Russian metal fabricators have been replacing imported finished profiles with in-house production, and sliding gate hardware is a good example: the customer in Russia used to buy finished guide rails from one of our Chinese customers, then decided to form them in house as volumes grew. That Chinese customer recommended us, and the guide rail line was shipped to Russia in May 2023.
The line is built around decoiler, forming machine, hydraulic cutter, hydraulic station and PLC control cabinet, and produces the guide rail profile used for sliding gate tracks. Shipment to Russia typically goes by sea to Vostochny in the east or St Petersburg in the west, or by rail, with transit that varies from roughly 3 to 5 weeks depending on the route. Machines are configured for 380 V, 50 Hz, three-phase, and cold-climate operation is discussed at order stage — lubricant grade, panel heating where needed and steel grade for the frame.
Questions
Volume and margin. Once the annual requirement is large enough, forming the rail in house removes the supplier margin, shortens lead time and gives control over section tolerance. The customer in Russia reached that point, was referred by one of our Chinese customers who already ran our equipment, and ordered a dedicated guide rail line rather than continuing to import finished rails.
The line delivered to Russia consists of a decoiler, the main forming machine, a hydraulic cutting device, a hydraulic station and a PLC control cabinet. Coil is fed, formed progressively, cut to length hydraulically and discharged at the out table, with cut length and quantity set on the control panel.
Shipment is by sea to Vostochny or St Petersburg, or by rail, with transit of roughly 3 to 5 weeks depending on the route and season. Machines are configured for 380 V, 50 Hz, three-phase and packed in wooden crates. Our engineers can travel for installation and commissioning, and remote support plus stocked spare parts cover operation afterwards.
